How are students assigned to NAF?
8th grade students work along with their guidance counselors and parents to complete the application process though Baltimore City Public School’s Office of Student Placement.  Students must have a composite score of at least 500 which is comprised of 50% or higher in Reading and Math on the Terra Nova Standardized Test, 90% or higher middle school attendance rate, and a middle school grade point average of 75 or better.

What distinguishes NAF from other high schools in Baltimore City?
NAF offers students the opportunity to take college preparatory courses, while also accessing the world of work through Job Shadowing and Paid Internship Programs. Students can focus on one of three career paths while still in high school – Finance, Hospitality and Tourism, or Information Technology.  NAF is also supported by an Advisory Board mad up of over 84 industry leaders throughout Baltimore.

What is the difference between NAF and NAF Baltimore?
NAF is the National Academy Foundation (www.naf.org) is a non profit organization based in New York City that serves as an intermediary bringing the worlds of business and education together.  This organization supplies curricula and resources to support the Academies of Finance, Hospitality and Tourism and Information Technology throughout the United States.  On the other hand, NAF Baltimore refers to a high school located in downtown, Federal Hill that houses all three NAF-sponsored Academies. This high school uses the curricula supplied by the NAF organization to prepare its students to enter colleges and/or careers aligned with the academy choices.
